Most people would say that you make your own luck. I cannot disagree with that, but I'm also a believer that, sometimes, you really cannot explain why certain things do happen to you. Good or bad. Karma, some people have it, others just don't. And if you have bad karma, no matter what you try to do, it hangs around you like halitosis. It seems that for myself, I've always had it bad with the smaller things in life. Things like getting the raw deal when I was assigned an instructor, or the dealer getting six straight blackjacks in a row while I was weeping in the corner. Etcetera. But I've always been rather fortuitous with the big things in life. Like having amazing family and friends, or getting selected for programs which a million other people would have desperately wanted to get into, but got rejected. Etcetera. I prefer that, actually, no matter how much I dwell on the small things in life. At least when I wake up the next day, I don't have to fear for my future. The only thing I have to ensure is that I'll never step foot in the casino ever again. Ever, ever again...bollocks. |
