Just saw a friend of mine whom I've just met recently. Spent a day with her in Beijing, which I must admit, was quite wonderful.

When I left to go back to whence I came, her face welled up with tears, and I couldn't bear to say goodbye. I must have stirred up her affections just a bit.

She's a lonely girl, only one in the family, strict father, boring job, few friends. I can tell in the way she looks out the window that she wants a different life, but then, many people look out of the window the same way.

I do feel pity for her, but there's not much I can do about it.

I just wish sometimes there were more of me to go around...
