We lost, they won. The look of dejection sometimes can be overwhelming. It is the nature of defeat which makes that raw grating on the nerves, lasting much longer in duration than usual. You can bet that, two weeks down the road, someone will be saying to themselves, "what if the infield was in double play depth?" A city in shock suffers another one. Though not without a fight this time. But on the other side, the outpouring of emotion is often overwhelming. Grown man hugging, kissing, grabbing each other by the buttocks. You'd think they will probably make their way back to the locker room afterwards, and have one big massive orgy. However, it is well deserved, and for a team which is overwhelmingly the underdogs before it all began, victory does come with a sense of euphoria. The little guy finally wins. We should be grateful. |
